“And He took them up in His arms, put His hands upon them, and blessed them.” Mark 10:16 Pastor Harris and Bay Harbour had a vision to open this child care center as an outreach ministry for children and the surrounding community. This vision became a reality on June 14, 2004 when the doors to Bay Harbour Child Care were opened with only 7 staff and 20 children. Our mission was and still is to provide each child with the love and godly guidance needed throughout their development. We are dedicated to each child’s mental, physical, emotional, social, and spiritual development. We recognize that our children are precious and are specially created by God. For this very reason we purpose to overstaff in each age level to help provide a more personal and individual setting for each child. Our center is a non-profit organization, licensed by the state of Georgia “Bright from the Start.” We provide safe facilities that meet all the policies and procedures as set forth by Bright from the Start, State Licensing Division. The staff here at Bay Harbour are state certified teachers who obtain a complete national records check, acquire at least 10 hours of training pertaining to their age group each year, and are certified in CPR, First Aid, and Fire Safety. Our center provides childcare for ages infants (6 weeks old) through four years of age, an after school program for kindergarten through fifth grade, and a summer program for infants through fifth grade. We strive to remain affordable while maintaining high standards of education. We also provide a secure coded entrance to our facility. For our toddlers through three year olds we have a structured program conducted within the nine months of the school year. The curriculum is age appropriate for each class level. Each classroom’s curriculum includes a Bible story or verse each day, class projects once a week, and a theme for each week. They also encounter language skills, math patterns and counting, science projects, and music and movement helping with physical development. We also offer a non-state funded Pre-K program conducted throughout the nine month school year. The Pre-K curriculum teaches every learning aspect to prepare the child for Kindergarten. We use “hands on” learning techniques throughout the classrooms. Our goals for our Pre-K program are for each child to be able to recognize upper and lower case letters, numbers 1-20, basic colors and shapes, and understand fundamental math and language skills. The curriculum also covers the many areas stated above within our toddler through three year old program. The weekly tuition for Pre-K includes extended care in the afternoons and holiday/summer care. We are open Monday through Friday, 7 am to 6 pm. For the convenience of our parents we provide the children with many age appropriate activities including manipulative work, recreation time, character building, good manners and etiquette, and Christian education including a weekly chapel experience. We also provide nutritious, well-balanced morning and afternoon snacks, and hot lunches each day provided in our kid-friendly cafeteria.
